Hello there fella otak- right, you're not an otaku yet, are you? I suppose you are not if you're here looking at manga for beginners. Unless... you're a pro and you're here to see what I think is best for others? What a sly move! I approve and most likely, we probably do agree on what is a good starting point for someone who is new to this style of story-telling.
Oh, by the way, an otaku is a die-hard fan of manga and anime. One I hope you'll be too once you finish reading through my recommendations. Without much further ado, let's begin, shall we?
#1 Kaichou wa Maid Sama

If you've followed all the articles on the blog then you know why this one is special to me. But this manga series aimed towards girls but has an endearing story that can appeal to all genders. The story is of Misaki and Usui is both funny, romantic and just plain ridiculous.
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
#2 Bleach

If a headstrong character who is smart, strong and is funny is what you're looking for, then Bleach is for you. Warning though his stubborn stupidity might annoy you and his growth will astound you. A series worth binging on!
Rating: 4/5
#3 Naruto

The boy who dreamed of becoming a Hokage. Perhaps, one of the best manga/anime series that exist. Head to the review in the blog for a better understanding. Once you get immersed in the shinobi life though, there's no going back.
Rating: 4.5/5
#4 One Punch Man

One of the most unconventional yet amazing super-heroes out there. In a world that's filling with heroes, Saitama stands out due to his unique powers. This hilarious satire will take you on an unforgettable ride, and what's not? The end seems to be not approaching any time soon. You can read the review in the blog or listen to a podcast discussing everything that makes OPM so special - https://m.soundcloud.com/pop-cult-reviews/episode-2-one-punch-man

#5 Vampire Knight

The final one on this list is Vampire Knight. The Salvatore brothers having nothing on these vampires and the Knights who protect their kind. It seemed appropriate to add another shojo category manga (that divulges into supernatural this time) on the list. Yuki Cross goes to the same School as Kaname, at a school were humans and vampires study together to show that they can co-exist. The amazing artwork, the intricate storyline and the complexities of the characters make it to one of the best mangas of all time.
Rating: 4/5
All these mangas have been adapted into anime as well, so do check them out in either form. Anyways, these are choices you won't regret.
